Discontent is the first necessity of progress
- Thomas A Edison
So how do you design your external work?
- Pick a FFL for your building
- Subtract 150mm to get External Ground Level
- Add levels individually at building corners
- Measure out to kerb lines
- Add levels individually at kerb lines
- Check
- Check
- Building moves 1m
- Don't do anything and hope no-one notices. - It's probably within site tolerances. (I think)
- FFL changes
- Start Again
There is a quicker and better way of designing and drawing external works. -
It's called Civil 3D
- Pick a FFL for your building
- Subtract 150mm to get External Ground Level
- Enter gradient to kerb lines
- Levels are entered automatically
- Building moves 1m
- NO PROBLEM - Levels change automatically
- FFL changes
- NO PROBLEM - Levels change automatically
It's called Civil 3D
- Also accurate sections can be drawn within minutes
- Quantities can be generated
- Setting out coordinates can be produced automatically
- Just as easy to design roads
- Civil 3D is written by Autocad. So they are fully compatible
- I can do this NOW And charge to the project number. NO need to get AUTHORISATION for Software upgrades and training
So get an easy life and save money

According to the Autocad web site
"AutoCADĀ® Civil 3DĀ® civil engineering software uses building information
modeling (BIM) to help civil engineering project teams evaluate more what-if
scenarios earlier in the design process and get transportation, land
development, and environmental projects done faster and more efficiently.
All you need to know is its very fast
